This blog is designed to enable viewers to post their comments on various subjects related to The Torrington Company's demise as a separate corporate entity. We will try to answer the question "Why?" and hopefully provide guidance to other Companies who might find themselves in a similar situation. We will also try to be a vehicle for alumni to express their thoughts

Throughout my 35 years with The Torrington Company, it is the people that will always live in my memory. As most of us did, I worked through many reorganizations and regimes. It was the people that always proved stronger than the 'org dujour', that is, until Timken took the company apart. Even now, like remembering a lost loved one, I long for the good old days of working every day with so many bright, caring, loyal people. It will always be "Torrington" to me, and "Torrington" will always be the people that made it so great!
The best thing about the T. Co., beside the great people I worked with, was the variety of jobs offered to me during my 40 years with the Company.Starting as an engineer/draftsman, then tool designer,Broad St asst super, building the Clinton Plant, working lots of years in the International Division (as VP) and finally starting our Nastech joint venture with NSK. It seemed that every time I felt it was time for a job change, the Company provided one. Not everyone had that good fortune!

Everyone felt like family there. Everyone.
I've never felt that in another place ever.
I think that the people were the best thing about the TC. It seemd like a big family
I was with the company for almost 20 years, and the people were the best. I also long to go back to those days, and still miss everyone! Torrington was a good place to learn and promote yourself. I had many different jobs and learned so much. There will never be another Torrington Co!
