LinkedIn

We thank Mike Basmajian for setting up the group "Former Torrington Co. associates and friends" on LinkedIn and referencing our blog as the website. Hopefully this will uncover more Alumni friends.

Hello fellow Torrington Co. alumni. For those of you who don't know LinkedIn is a professional networking site. It is a great way to keep in touch with your contacts without having to rifle through the drawer of outdated business cards. In the LinkedIn application I created a "group" that you all can join. The LinkedIn group should not replace this blog site for news and information. To get started on LinkedIn go to www.linkedin.com and create a simple profile. Once you have your profile you can join groups. It's simple and free.

Best regards,

Mike
(p.s. see you at the Christmas party)

Norm,
I hope all is well down in sunny Texas.

I just wanted to give you an update on the Torrington/Fafnir group on LinkedIn. We have 167 members so far and we continue to grow week over week. It might be worth publishing a topic or at least this e-mail on the site to let people know the group is out there. When I received your latest blog update e-mail I sent a note to the group directing them to the site.
The purpose of LinkedIn is to house each person’s specific professional network (unlike Facebook which is a social network). By setting up a profile on LinkedIn a person can then start to invite others to “connect” thus building their network. Once connected they should never lose touch as each individual is responsible for updating his own information. That way everyone always has the most current information about every one of their contacts even if they change jobs/companies. Rest assured, you provide only the information you are comfortable with and can share even less.

LinkedIn also has groups that professionals can join. Our Torrington group is an example of this and I encourage anyone on LinkedIn who worked for Torrington or Fafnir to join.

Keep up the great work on the blog. We all have great memories of The Torrington Company.
Regards, Mike
